1.23 Learning Licences Issued In Odisha In September

Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Department has issued 1.23 lakh of learning licences in September in the state after the amended MV Act came in to effect from September 1.

As per official statistics, the number of learning licences issued in 2018 stood at 3.35 lakh in 2018. Officials said that as many as 24000 learning licences were issued in September by two Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in the state capital.

“The implementation of amended MV Act has definitely forced many people to drive with valid licences. The number is likely to increase as most of the RTOs have been witnessing large queues for learning licences,” said an official.

In order to provide easy service to people, RTOs have increased the testing capacity along with setting up camps. Besides the government has also asked the RTOs to remain open even on holidays to facilitate people applying for learning licence.
