Zinedine Zidane re-appointed as Real Madrid’s coach

Madrid: Zinedine Zidane was on Monday re-appointed as the coach of Spanish football club Real Madrid till 2022.

The 46-year-old Frenchman replaces Santiago Solari, who was sacked after less than five months in charge.

“Real Madrid’s board, meeting today Monday 11 March 2019, have decided to end the contract which linked Santiago Solari to the club as first-team coach, while offering him to continue working for the club,” the club said in a statement.

“Real Madrid thanks Santiago Solari for his work done and the commitment and loyalty he has shown to what is his home,” it added.

Former Real midfielder Zidane had resigned from the club in May last year after leading it to three consecutive Champions League titles.

Real Madrid is going through a rough patch this season with nothing left to play for other than qualification match into next season’s premier European competition.
