Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ben Stokes exchange heated words during IND vs ENG 2nd Test, video goes viral

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ben Stokes had a heated disagreement during the 2nd Test at Edgbaston between India and England. The disagreement arose as Jaiswal was running for a run, and Stokes said some words to the Indian batter, as he was running down towards the non-striker’s end.. Jaiswal quickly retorted, “You don’t want to hear from me, come on.” The issue was assumed to have been closed, but Stokes stoked the discussion again in the same over, trying to get Jaiswal agitated. Stokes’ scheme didn’t quite pay off, though, as Jaiswal continued on to score his half-century in the following over.

In spite of the exchange of words, Stokes prevailed over Jaiswal in the 46th over. Jaiswal attempted a cut but nudged the ball, which was picked up by Jamie Smith behind the stumps. Stokes, who excels at taking key wickets, had been waiting for the opportunity to send Jaiswal back to the pavilion. The England skipper finally got the better of Jaiswal, and the dismissal of the latter came as no surprise considering his attacking style of batting.

In the meantime, Indian skipper Shubman Gill appeared at ease at the crease, sharing a partnership with Rishabh Pant on a very favorable batting pitch. Gill escaped a tight lbw referral by Brydon Carse in the 34th over, courtesy of an inside edge picked up by the technology. Pant joined Gill towards the end of the session and eased into his game before driving Shoaib Bashir for a six over mid-on. The Indian pair seemed to be in control, adding runs steadily without taking unnecessary risks.

Jaiswal and Karun Nair earlier had done well to weather the trying phase against the English pacers. Nair looked good at number three, making 31 from 50 balls before getting out late on the morning session. Even in overhead conditions, Stokes decided to bowl, but the Indian duo completed 80 runs for the second wicket and laid a strong foundation for the team.
