West Indies set victory target of 323 runs for India in 1st ODI

Guwahati: West Indies set a victory target of 323 runs for India in the first one day international (ODI) Cricket of the five-match series here on Sunday.

The visitors made 322 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing eight wickets. Shimron Hetmeyer  and Kieran Powell scored 106 off 78 balls and 51 off 39 balls respectively, despite falling of wickets regularly.

Rovman Powell (22), Shai Hope (32) and Jason Holder (38)  got starts, but couldn’t convert them into a big innings.

For India, Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja two each and Khaleel Ahmed one.

As per the latest report, India have scored 121/1 in 19 overs in chasing the victory target. Skipper Virat Kohli (80*) and Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma (34*) are on the crease.

Earlier, India elected to bowl after winning the toss. Rishabh Pant made his ODI debut for the home team.

For West Indies, Oshane Thomas and Chanderpaul Hemraj made their debuts.

The second one-dayer will be played in Indore on October 24.
