Virat Kohli becomes fastest batsman to score 20,000 International runs

Manchester: India skipper Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to score 20,000 international runs when he scored 37 runs against West Indies during the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup at the Old Trafford here on Thursday.

The 30-year-old right-hand batsman broke the record set by legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar and West Indies great Brian Lara.

Kohli reached the 20000-run mark in his 416th innings – 131 in Tests, 223 in ODIs and 62 in T20Is. Tendulkar and Lara took 453 innings to reach the milestone.

Kohli, who made his international debut in 2008, is currently the top-ranked ODI and test batsman in the world.

Overall, Kohli became the 12th batsman and 3rd Indian after Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid to reach 20,000 international runs.
