Bangkok: A tragic incident took place in which a Thai footballer identified as Sofwan Awae lost his life after lightning strikes during football match in Southern Thailand. This incident was also recorded on camera without any expectations.
This happened during the Golok FA Cup which is a local tournament between amateur and Thai-Malaysian teams.
As per reports, 12 other players also sustained injuries during this incident.
Following the incident, as Awae fell on the floor and didn’t get up after the lightning strikes, the players reportedly rushed towards him to see what has happened. He didn’t respond after which emergency teams began to start their efforts to save his life but due he got succumbed to his serious injuries.
This incident put people in shock and social media was flooded with condolences messages. They also debated around the need to conduct matches during such a weather condition.
