T20 WC champions return home: Indian team meets PM Narendra Modi

New-Delhi: The T20 Champion Indian team has arrived at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and have breakfast with him.

The Indian team touched down in New Delhi early on Thursday morning. The members of the team were stranded for three days after hurricane Beryl hit Barbados.

Yesterday, Air India’s special charter flight, named after the winning squad, Air India Champions 24 World Cup (AIC24WC), left the Caribbean island at 4:50 a.m. local time and landed in the national capital at around 6:20 a.m. (IST) today.

After the Indian cricket team is hosted for a reception by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital, it will head to Mumbai, where they are to participate in an open-top bus parade with the trophy.

After reaching Mumbai, a road show will be conducted from Nariman Point in an open bus which will take place in the evening. A felicitation event at the Wankhede Stadium will follow the victory bus parade.

India brought ICC trophy by defeating South Africa by seven runs on Saturday.
