Sports Secretary Wishes Indian Arrows Luck For International Tournament

Bhubaneswar: Sports secretary Vishal Deb today visited the Kalinga Stadium and extended his best wishes to I-league team, Indian Arrows, which comprises of India’s U-19 players and is supported by the Odisha government.

The team is travelling to St. Petersburg, Russia on June 3 to participate in the XXXI Granatkin Memorial International Football Tournament. It is held in memory of FIFA’s First Vice-President Valentin Granatkin.

A total of 12 national teams with players born on or after January 1,  2001, will be participating in this tournament.

The Indian team will compete in five matches in the tournament (3 group matches + 2 playoffs). The team will compete with Russia, Moldova and Bulgaria in the group stages.

Earlier in November, the state government had signed an MoU with the  All India Football Federation to act as the home ground of Indian Arrows. The team consisting of a bulk of Indian U-17 World Cup players have been utilising the infrastructure of the Kalinga Stadium.
