Smriti powers India to beat West Indies in Women’s World Cup

Smriti MandhanaTaunton: The Indian Women’s Team registered their second successive win in the Women’s World Cup as they registered an emphatic 7-wicket win over West Indies Women last night.

Batting first, West Indies Women posted 183/8 in 50 overs. Hayley Matthews scored 43. Afy Fletcher (36*) and Shanel Daley (33) were the other top contributors.

For India, Deepti Sharma, Poonam Yadav and Harmanpreet Kaur took two wickets each.

The target of 184 turned out to be an easy task for the Indian Women. Smriti Mandhana, who scored 90 against England, led from the front and powered the team to a seven-wicket win with her 106*.

India reached 186/3 in 42.3 overs. Apart from Smriti, Mithali Raj contributed 46. Smriti Mandhana was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
