Smriti Mandhana to lead India Women’s cricket team in 1st T20I against England
Guwahati: India women’s cricket team will face England in first T20 international of three-match series here in Assam on Monday. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
Star batswoman Smriti Mandhana will captain the Indian side in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur who has not yet recovered from an ankle injury.
Briefing the media persons yesterday, Mandhana said, “Captaincy and batting are completely different aspects. I don’t like to mix the two as it complicates things.”

The Indian squad will also include ODI captain Mithali Raj who is likely to retire from the shortest format before the T20 World Cup in Australia next year.
The Women’s T20 World Cup is slated to be played next year and both the teams would look to work on the combination during the series.
