Sindhu storms into semi-finals of World Badminton C’ships in China

Nanjing: Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu stormed into the semi-finals of the World Badminton Championships by defeating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the quarterfinals here in China last night.

The Rio Olympics Silver medalist and world number three beat Okuhara in straight games, 21-17, 21-19.

Sindhu had lost to Okuhara in the Championships last year to settle for a Silver medal. The victory of Sindhu means that the head-to-head record between the two shuttlers now stands level at 6-6.

Today, Sindhu will play another Japanese, world number two Akane Yamaguchi, for a place in the Final.
