Shoaib Malik opens up about his bond with son Izhaan after divorce, says ‘We call each other bro’

Shoaib Malik recently spoke about his bond with his son, Izhaan Mirza Malik, on a Pakistani Ramzan show. Though he has been criticized for spending little time with Izhaan, Shoaib opened up that he meets his son in Dubai at least twice a month. This is proof of the cordial relationship.

Shoaib mentioned that his relationship with Izhaan is similar to that of friends, as Izhaan is fond of calling him “bro”. The ex-Pakistan captain also added that he actively engages in sports activities with Izhaan, such as football, which is Izhaan’s favorite. Shoaib stated that it is important to be on good terms with children, giving an example of his own close bond with his mom. Shoaib also went on to disclose that he and Izhaan have daily video calls in which they discuss their daily routines and shared interests.

Shoaib’s remarks follow after he and his former wife, Sania Mirza, went public with their divorce in 2023, having been married for 13 years. The two wedded on April 12, 2010, but sadly, their marriage did not last. The two still co-parent Izhaan despite the separation, with Sania being the custodial parent. Shoaib has remarried Pakistani actress Sana Javed, while Sania is still concentrating on her career and parenting.
