Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of World Cup2019, Rishabh Pant named replacement
Southampton: In a major jolt to team India, opener Shikar Dhawan was on Wednesday ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2029 as he is unlikely to recover from a thumb injury which he sustained in the game against Australia at the Oval on June 9.
Delhi wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is set to replace him in the 15-man squad, team manager Sunil Subramaniam confirmed here on Wednesday.

The left-hander suffered the injury when a rising delivery from Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins hit him awkwardly in the early phase of his match-winning innings of 117 off 109 balls.
Dhawan didn’t come out to field after that innings and also missed India’s next two group games against New Zealand and arch-rivals Pakistan.
While the match against New Zealand was washed out without a ball being bowled due to rain, India brought KL Rahul against arch-rival Pakistan in the next game on June 16, who scored 57 and added a record 136 for the 1st wicket with Rohit Sharma.
Rishabh Pant, wicketkeeper and attacking middle-order batsman, was left out of India’s original World Cup squad.
