Rohit Sharma 2nd Indian Batsman to hit Three Centuries in World Cup

New Delhi: Rohit Sharma becomes the second Indian batsman to hit three centuries in a World Cup. Sharma hit his third century for this World Cup season on Sunday against England. Although the Indian team lost to the English team, Rohit Sharma shone with his third century for the season.

Sourav Ganguly was the only other Indian batsman to score three hundreds in a single edition of World cup. Former captain Ganguly set this record in 2003 World Cup which was held in South Africa. He had scored three centuries in matches against Namibia, Kenya and Africa.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli together put on board a 138-run partnership. This was the highest partnership by any Indian pair in the 2019 World Cup. Rohit and Virat levelled with Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 31 fifty plus partnership in ODIs.

So far, Rohit has been a hit for the Indian Cricket team in 2019 World Cup. He hit a fabulous total of 122 runs against South Africa in India’s opening tournament and went on to score a total of 140 runs against Pakistan on June 16. This was Sharma’s 25th ODI Century and 4th in 2019.

Rohit is the highest run scorer for India in the 2019 World Cup. Besides scoring three hundreds, he also scored another 57 against Australia.
