Happy Birthday Rahul Dravid

Bhubaneswar: One of India’s cricketing legends Rahul Dravid celebrates his 47th birthday today. The Twitter flooded with birthday wishes- from celebrities to fans alike made sure to wish the star.

While it would be difficult to even begin to describe Dravid’s contribution to Indian cricket, we could take a step.

The Wall, Mr Dependable, Jammy- these are few of his nicknames. His on-field performance brought him many a fame.

The ever-humble Rahul Dravid made his test debut at Lord’s on 20 June 1996 against England in the Second Test of the series. He was pretty successful in the series.

While his test career was great, success at ODI took some time. Dravid made his international debut on 3 April 1996 in an ODI against Sri Lanka in the Singer Cup held in Singapore immediately after the 1996 World Cup.

During the four-year of 2002-06, Dravid was the top scorer for India in both the formats of the game. Between this period, Dravid scored 4,697 runs for India in 48 Tests at an average of 70.10, almost 18 runs more than the next best batsman, Virender Sehwag, who averaged 52.48 in the same period. He scored fourteen hundreds during the period, including four double hundreds.

As of now, he is the 4th highest scorer in Tests after having made a total of 13288 in career span of 16 years.

Rahul Dravid was awarded Arjuna Award in 1998, Padma Shri in 2004, and Padma Bhushan in 2013 for his contributions to cricket. He joined ICC Hall of Fame in 2018.

Currently, Dravid has taken the Under-19 team under his able wings. His team recently also won the World Cup in 2018.

Fans and celebrities alike wished the Cricketing legend on his birthday.
