Pakistani fans turn up humour to digest humiliating defeat against India

Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar tore through the Pakistan cricket team and management

New Delhi: Cricketing world’s most anticipated match might have gone down with India maintaining dominance over Pakistan, but Pakistani Twitterati definitely won through their self-deprecating humour.

While Pakistan lost by 89 runs (DLS method), this was their seventh straight loss in World Cup. For numerous cricket fanatics across the border, this was the penultimate match which ended extremely disappointingly for Pakistan as nothing seemed to be working for them.

From joking around the lack of sportsmanship the players possess to Pakistan captain Sarfraz yawning on the field, the Pakistani Twitterati had a field day mocking their team.

Here are a few tweets:

Shoaib Akhtar on Brainless Captaincy & Clueless Management

While these were commoners trashing Pakistan, Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar went on an 11-minute rant where he dissected Pakistan’s performance while calling losing captain Sarfraz Ahmed ‘brainless’ six times, and ‘clueless’ twice for good measure.

He took a shot at everyone including Imam-ul-Haq — “issko cover drive maarte hue nahi dekha kisi ne”, Mohammad Amir — “taking three wickets after conceding 340 is not match-winning bowling” and coach Mickey Arthur — “ye banda baitha hua hai. Ya toh hasta rehta hai ya gussa kar deta hai”. But Akhtar’s worst was saved for his favourite whipping boy Sarfraz.

Mentioning Pakistan PM Imran Khan and World Cup winning captain Imran Khan’s advice to Sarfraz, he said “Imran bhai ko bhi sochna chahiye ki tweet unke liye kare, jinme capacity ho… Hum yahan se cheekhe maar rahe hain, phone kar rahe hain. Bhai tereko akal hai ki nahi hai? Thoda use kar le apne dimaag ka. Ussne koshish hi ki nahi, maine nahi karna.”

PM Imran had suggested Sarfraz take first batting if they win toss, which the team management decided to ignore at their own loss.
