Bhubaneswar: The National Sports Award Committee has recommended names of 11 sports persons for the prestigious Khel Ratna award. The list includes Pramod Bhagat from Odisha, the gold medallist from the Tokyo Paralympics.
The list of 11 includes champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, the second Indian to win an individual Olympic gold.
Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and women’s cricket team Test captain Mithali Raj are the others whose name have been recommended. Besides footballer Sunil Chhetri’s name has also been recommended.
Names of 5 gold medallist from the Tokyo Paralympics have been recommended viz Avani Lekhara, Manish Narwal, Sumit Antil and Krishna Nagar along with Pramod Bhagat.
On the other hand, name of cricketer Sikhar Dhawan has been recommended for Arjuna Award along with 34 others.
Ms Kalinga
