Odisha U-19 cricket team returns home after 2-day stuck in Assam

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha U-19 team, which was stranded in a hotel in Assam due to the mass protests against the Citizenhip Amendment Bill (CAB), safely arrived here on Friday evening.

The visiting team was holed up in a hotel for two nights on the highway near Guwahati after news of unrest started to come in. The team bus, which was headed to Nagaon — around 130 km from Guwahati airport, was stopped on the highway after 30 minutes and the team was lodged in a hotel on the highway.

Meanwhile, the BCCI cancelled the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match between Assam and Odisha in Nagaon, which was scheduled to start on Friday.

Sources paid, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, who are in England on an official tour, have been constantly tracking developments to ensure players’ and officials’ safety during the protest.
