Competing in the under-15 girls’ category, Saina scored 8.5 points winning eight games, drawing one and losing two out of eleven rounds.
Divya Deshmukh of Maharashtra won the gold medal with 9.5 points, while Sanskriti Goyal from Uttar Pradesh bagged the silver medal with 9 points.
With this success, Saina has qualified to represent India in the World Youth Chess Championship-2018 in Greece and the Asian Youth Chess Championship-2018 in Thailand.
Saina, who studies in Bhubaneswar based KIIT International School, had won the gold medal in the Under 14 category in Commonwealth Chess Championship held in New Delhi in July this year.
