Bhubaneswar, Apr 04: Hockey Gangpur Odisha defender Pratap Lakra has been announced as the vice-captain of national Under-18 junior hockey for the 5th Asian School Boys U-18 Hockey Championship.
Apart from Pratap, the other players from the state who were selected in the national team are – forward Manip Kerketa, mid-fielder Akash Ekka and goalkeeper Sahil Kumar.
The tournament is schedule to be held at Aishbagh Hockey Stadium in Bhopal from April 2 to 11.
Malaysia, China, Sri Lanka and UAE are placed in the Group-A while host India is in the group-B along with Singapore, Thailand and Nepal.
In the league round matches, India will meet Nepal, Singapore and Thailand on April 4, April 5 and April 7 respectively.
The top two teams of each group will qualify for the semifinal round and the winners will play the final on April 11.
