New Delhi: Test and ODI captain Shubhman Gill has not been named in the fifth round of Vijay Hazare Trophy Punjab vs Sikkim, delaying his domestic cricket comeback as he got affected by the weather and is currently suffering from food poisoning.

Shubhman Gill had reached Jaipur yesterday for his domestic cricket comeback after 2 years to play for Punjab against Sikkim, but was called off at the last moment by the doctors due to his illness.

“This morning, he was better, but keeping in mind the fact that there’s a packed schedule, we decided to rest him. He will certainly be available for the next game,” Sandeep (the coach) said.

Despite Gill’s absence, the team scored in great numbers after opting to field first, with wicketkeeper and batter Prabhsimran Singh leading the charge.
