Luke Ronchi has announced that he will step down as New Zealand batting coach after the completion of home series against India by this year end
New Delhi: Luke Ronchi has announced that he will step down as New Zealand batting coach after the completion of home series against India by this year end. India and New Zealand are scheduled to face each other in a multi-format series later this year.
Following the series and after stepping down from his position he will be heading down to Australia where he will lead the Melbourne Renegades in the BBL as the head coach.
Luke Ronchi joined as New Zealand coaching set-up in the year 2020. He was the coach when the team earned several milestones, even during World Test Championship in 2021.
After the announcement he came in to thank everyone and look back to the memories he created. “It was a real privilege to coach the New Zealand side and I’m so grateful for all the experiences and memories made.
“I also want to thank all the players and support staff,” Ronchi said. The former wicketkeeper batter will stay with New Zealand until after the India series ends, before connecting with the Melbourne Renegades.
