Men’s Hockey World Cup: Germany to meet Netherlands, Malaysia to face Pakistan

Spotlight returns to Pool D with two matches scheduled for day 8 of Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018

Bhubaneswar: Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 is set to have two matches today. All the four teams belong to Pool D. The first match will start at 5 pm; while the second match is at 7 pm. Both of the matches will be held at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. They will be telecast on Start Sports Network and Doordarshan.

The first encounter is set to be in between Germany and the Netherlands. Both the teams have won one match each till now; will want to continue their winning streak. Netherland is the top-ranked team in Pool D.

This match is super important for all members of this death pool. The win will ensure winning team’s direct entry into the semi-finals.

The 2nd match on the 8th day of the mega hockey extravaganza will see Pakistan locking horns with Malaysia. Both the teams are coming into the match on the back of losses so it becomes increasingly important for both of them to get some points on the board.

Pakistani captain Tauqeer Dar and his troops will be high on confidence after putting up a good show against Germany. Malaysia can be expected to give tough competition to Pakistan.
