Mary Kom storms into final of Women’s World Boxing Championship

New Delhi: Five-time world champion MC Mary Kom entered the final of 48 kilogram category of the Women’s World Championships here on Thursday.

The 35-year-old Indian boxer beat North Korea’s Kim Hyang Mi in the semi-final bouts with a unanimous decision 5:0, assuring a medal for the country.

The Manipur boxer is currently tied with Irish legend Katie Taylor on five gold medals and one more will make her the most successful woman in World Championships history.

Mary Kom last won a world championship medal in 2010 – 48kg category gold.
