Mary Kom becomes World’s No.1 Boxer

New Delhi: Two months after becoming the first female boxer to win six world championships, India’s Mary Kom became World’s No 1 Boxer as per the latest boxing world rankings announced by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) today.

Mary Kom (36), the mother-of-three, topped the raking list with 1700 scores in the Light Fly 45-48 kilogramme category.

With 1100 points, Ukraine’s Hanna Okhota ranked the number two in the world.

Kom defeated Ukraine’s Hanna Okhota by 5-0 in Delhi last year to win her sixth world championship title. With the win she surpassed Ireland’s Katie Taylor, and level with the men’s record held by Cuban legend Felix Savon as the most successful pugilist ever at the world championships.

Kom also won gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the Silesian Open Boxing Tournament in Poland. She bagged a silver at the Strandja Memorial in Bulgaria.
