Earlier, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. The Indian bowlers, properly aided by the fielders restricted them to 205/9 in 50 overs. Kyle Hope 46, Shai Hope 51, Jason Holder 36 and Rovman Powell 31 were the top contributors. For India, Shami took 4 wickets, while Umesh Yadav took 3 wickets.
While chasing 206, India lost Shikhar Dhawan early. But, other batsmen did not let India down. India reached 206/2 in 36.5 overs. Rahane made 39, while Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 50. Virat Kohli hit 111* off 115 balls with 12 boundaries and 2 sixes.
