Bhubaneswar: The students of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Bhubaneswar of Odisha were awarded at the State level Children’s Festival ‘Suravi’ in the capital city of Odisha today. They were awarded and given monetary award for their achievement in Rugby.
As per reports, the awarded KISS students had brought silver medals for Odisha in Rugby game.
On the second evening of ‘Suravi’, Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida attended the festival as the chief guest and gave away monetary awards to this students. The Chief Guest awarded Rs 33,000 to the under 17 girls’ team and Rs 36,000 to other 3 teams of Rugby.
The Under 14 Rugby Games were organized last December at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar in which teams from various states participated. Among them, there were 9 girls in the Odisha under 14 team and 6 boys were also there in the team. Odisha won the silver medal in this game.
Similarly, Odisha team participated in Under 17 Rugby match in Maharashtra. The under 17 girls’ team had 8 girls while the boys’ team there were 8 members. They had won Silver in the final match against Bihar. All the students in the Odisha Rugby Team thanked Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KIIT and KISS for the achievement.
