Inspired by PM Modi’s visit, Polish Kabaddi players express willingness for Global Pravasi Women’s League in India
Warsaw (Poland): Inspired by the words of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited Poland recently, the Polish Kabaddi players have expressed their willingness to take part in the Global Pravasi Women’s League (GPKL) to be held in India in September this year.
In his keynote address during his visit to Poland to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Indian Prime Minister brought up a common factor between the two countries – Kabaddi. “We are connected through the game of kabaddi. This game reached Poland through India and they took it to great heights. Poland is going to host the Kabaddi Championship for the first time. I want to wish good luck to their team,” the Prime Minister said in his address.
The participation of the Polish Kabaddi players at the GPKL was confirmed by Kanthi D. Suresh, President of Holistic International Pravasi Sports Association (HIPSA), the main body behind organising the GPKL.
The Season 1 of the GPKL is set to take place in the National Capital Region with participation of female Kabaddi players from over 15 countries.
The main objective of the Global Pravasi Women’s Kabaddi League is to promote Kabaddi globally so that Kabaddi will be included in the Olympic Games after reaching the 40-country mark for women’s participation, which is mandatory norm for the inclusion. The GPKL is also being considered as a support for India’s bid to host the Olympic Games in 2036.
