Indian Hockey player Sunita Lakra ties the knot

Sundergarh: Indian Hockey player Sunita Lakra tied the nuptial knot at Kesharamal Church in Rajgangpur of the district on Friday.

Sunita Lakra, the former captain of the Indian women’s team, tied the knot with Deepak Lakra, a native of Kiralaga village under Subdega block of the district. He works for Odisha police and now is posted in Rourkela Reserve Police Line.

The duo married as per the Chirstian rituals in the presence of family members and close relatives. Some hockey players, coach and friends attended the marriage ceremony and blessed the newly-wed couple.

Born in 1991, Sunita made her international debut in 2009 and completed her 100th international match against New Zealand in 2017.

Lakra was also the captain of the Indian team and led her side to the second position in the Asian Champions Trophy Women’s hockey at Donghae City in Korea in May 2018. She was also the part of the Indian team that won the Asian Champions Trophy.
