India Women Hockey team get silver at Asian Games

Jakarta: The Indian Women’s Hockey Team settled for the silver medal at the 18th Asian Games after they lost 1-2 to Japan at Gelora Bung Karno Hockey Field here this evening. This is the first time that India cliched a medal in the Asian Games since 1998.

Neha Goyal (25’) had scored for India while the Japanese team secured their victory with two goals which were scored by Minami Shimizu (11’) and Motomi Kawamura (44’).

India got bronze medal after losing to Hong Kong in Squash men’s team semi-finals.

In sailing, Varsha Gautham and Sweta Shervegar won silver in the 49er FX while, Harshita Tomar pocketed the bronze in the Open Laser 4.7.

Meanwhile, Amit Panghal entered the finals of men’s 49 kg category of Boxing, and he will fight for gold.

Likewise, the Indian Women’s Squash team also entered finals after beating Malaysia.
