India win Galle Test by 304 Runs

Kohli-JadejaGalle: With more than a day to spare, Team India trounced hosts Sri Lanka by 304 runs in Galle Test to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. It was a clinical performance by the Indian Team led by Virat Kohli. This is the biggest-ever Test win abroad by India in terms of runs.

Earlier, India declared their second innings at 240/3, setting a victory target of 550 for Sri Lanka. Skipper Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 103. Abhinav Mukund scored 81.

Chasing a victory target of 550, Sri Lanka finished at 245/8. Two players Rangana Herath and Asela Gunaratne did not bat due to injury. So, it was considered as all out for the Lankan Team.

For Lanka, Dimuth Karunaratne was the highest scorer at 97. Kusal Mendis 36 and Niroshan Dickwella 67 were the other top contributors. For India, Mohammed Shami took 5 wickets, while Jadeja and Ashwin took 3 wickets each. Shikhar Dhawan was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
