India vs England: KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant heroics go in vain in final Test

London: England beat India by 118 runs in the fifth and final cricket Test to wrap up the series 4-1 at the Oval here last evening. Chasing a mammoth target of 464 runs, India were all out for 345 runs on the last day of the match.

For India, Opener K.L. Rahul (149) and young wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant (114) scored bold, enterprising hundreds and raised the visions of an improbable victory.

However , their 204-run stand was broken after tea as Adil Rashid taking 2 wickets for 63 in 15 overs on the final day of the fifth Test.

James Anderson who took 3 wickets also surpassed Glenn McGrath as the highest wicket- taking pacer in Test match history.

Alastair Cook was adjudged player of the match.
