India beat West Indies by 5 wickets to take 1-0 series lead

Kolkata: India beat West Indies by five wickets in their first T20 match at Eden Gardens here this evening.

Batting first, West Indies were dismissed for a score of just 109. Fabian Allen (27) was the top scorer for the visitors.

Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers, picking 3 wickets with seamers Jasprit Bumrah and Khaleel Ahmed contributing effectively as well.

After losing four wickets only for 45 runs, India had some tough time to get back to the match. However, a vital partnership between Dinesh Karthik and Manish Pandey ensured a victorious chase, with Krunal Pandya providing some valuable support from the other end in the last few overs.

Kuldeep Yadav was declared the Man of the Match.

With the win, India now took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

While the second T-20 will be played on November 6 (Tuesday) at Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the third match of the tournament will be played on November 11 (Sunday) at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
