India beat England in Women’s Cricket World Cup

London: The Indian Women beat England Women by 35 runs to Kalingatv CK start their ICC Women’s World Cup campaign on a spectacular note.

England won the toss and elected to bowl first. India Women posted 281/3 in 50 overs. Punam Raut 86, Smriti Mandhana 90, Mithali Raj 71* were the top scorers.

Chasing a victory target of 282, England Women bowled for 246 in 47.3 overs. Heather Knight 46 and Fran Wilson 81 were the top scorers. Deepti Sharma 3/47, Shikha Pandey 2/35) were the key wicket-takers for India.

Smriti Mandhana was declared Player of the Match.
