India beat Australia in 2nd ODI by 8 runs

Nagpur: In a trilling match, India defeated Australia by eight runs in the second One-Day International (ODI), here on Tuesday.

Invited to bat first, the hosts were bowled out for 250 runs in 48.2 overs despite skipper Virat Kohli’s  116 runs off 120 balls. Vijay Shankar was the other successful batsman who scored 46 off 41 deliveries before being run out.

For Australia, Pat Cummins took four wickets while Adam Zampa took two.

With Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja putting together an 83-run opening partnership, the Australian chase got a good start. However, they lost their way after that as they lost wickets at regular intervals and were dismissed for 242 runs in 49.3 overs.

Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the most successful among the Indian bowlers with figures of 3/54 in his 10 overs. Shankar and Jarprit Bumrah claimed two wickets each.

Kohli was adjudged the ‘Man of the Match.’

India now have a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

The 3rd ODI will be played on March 8 at JSCA International Stadium, Ranchi (1:30 PM IST)
