India beat Australia by 137 runs in Melbourne Test

Melbourne: India displayed all-round show to beat Australia by 137 runs on the fifth day of the third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here on Sunday.

The visiting team picked the last two wickets of the innings quickly on the rain affected final day to claim the victory. Ishant Sharma claimed the final wicket of the day in Nathan Lyon (7) to wrap Australia for 261 runs in their second innings.

For India, pacemen Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Ravindra Jadeja claimed three wickets each while Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma bagged two each.

With this win, India took a 2-1 lead in the four-match series and also retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
