Ind vs South Africa U19 ODI day 2: match highlights
India U19 team won by 8 wickets against South Africa in the second match of the ODI series at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
Benoni: India beat the South Africa U19 squad by 8 wickets in the second India vs South Africa ODI match played at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni, South Africa on Monday. With this, India has taken a 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series against South Africa.
The Indian U19 team was captained by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who smashed 68 runs off just 24 balls, including ten sixes and a four. He scored fifty runs in just 19 deliveries. Meanwhile, Abhigyan Kundu scored (48 not out) and Vedant Trivedi (31 not out) ensuring an easy finish.
South Africa opted to bat first and were dismissed for 245 in 49.3 over.
From the South African U19 team the player Jorich van Schalkwyk could only make 10 runs and Adnaan Lagadien could only manage to make 25 runs while Jason Rowles scored a notable 114 and Daniel Bosman contributed 31 to the team’s score.
Due to some problem with the lightning the innings for the second batting team (India) was reduced to 27 overs under the DLS method. India chased down the score effortlessly with an amazing 176 for two in 23.3 overs.
The last and the final match between India U19 and South Africa will be played in the same venue tomorrow.
The series provides crucial preparation for India’s Under-19 World Cup campaign, scheduled to begin on January 15 in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
