Trivandrum: India defeated Australia by 44 runs in the second T20I played this evening at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. With the win the Men in Blue took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Invited to bat first, the Suryakumar Yadav-led young team scored 235/4 with the fliers of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The duo scored 77 runs for the opening wicket in 5.5 overs.

Even Ishan Kishan (52) and Rinku Singh (31 from nine balls) contributed to set a huge target of 236 runs for Australia.

Chasing the target, Australia were restricted to 191 for nine in the stipulated 20 overs.

Marcus Stoinis (45) was the highest run getter for the visitors. He was followed by captain Matthew Wade, who remained not out with 42 off 23 balls.
