ICC World Cup Semi-finals: India aim to topple New Zealand
There will be the risk of the odd light shower again
Manchester: The 2019 World Cup knockouts are here and India will face New Zealand in first semi-finals today. The two teams will meet at Old Trafford here. The match is scheduled to start at 3 pm.
India have been riding on a high since the beginning of the tournament despite battling multiple injuries and a concerning middle-order crisis. They have however ended on top of the points table and will be looking to knocking the Black Caps out of the tournament.
Meanwhile, New Zealand have been the quintessential ‘overachievers’. Usually doing well in group stages and cracking under pressure in knock-out stages. They have somehow made into the semi this year mostly because the other teams did not perform better.
Cricket’s glorious uncertainties apart, India will be clear favourites against the Kiwis. Experts across panel believe that India is the most well-balanced side in this World Cup. But Kane Williamson headed New Zealand are known to pack a punch and Virat Kohli’s men have to be on their guard.
It is important to note here that India and New Zealand were supposed to meet in the fourth match of the World Cup which was abandoned due to bad weather.
However, the skies are likely to remain rather cloudy throughout Tuesday. There will be the risk of the odd light shower again, informed British Met department.
