New Zealand eye for semi-final berth as they meet Pakistan
Birmingham: New Zealand will lock horns with Pakistan on Wednesday at Edgbaston here. The Black caps will be eyeing to seal their semi-final berth while Pakistan will be hoping to keep their World Cup dream alive.
Pakistan are currently sitting at seventh position in the points table with five points in six games. They have three games left in the tournament and they need to win all three of them to sustain in the tournament.
Meanwhile, New Zealand continue with their unbeaten run after winning a close encounter against West Indies and they currently are on top of the points table of the cricketing extravaganza.
Coming to statistics, New Zealand and Pakistan have met each other eight times in previous World Cups and the latter leads with 6-2.
Weather-wise, there was a light drizzle on Wednesday morning and heavy rain yesterday. Sun is not out yet which has prompted a delay for the beginning of the match. While it is not raining now, a second inspection will be performed at 3 pm after which the play status will be decided.
