Galle Test: India extend lead to 498 on Day 3

Galle: Team India have extended their lead over Sri Lanka to 498 in Galle Test, as they finished Day 3 at 189/3. Abhinav Mukund, who failed in the first innings, scored a brilliant 81 in the second innings. Skipper Virat Kohli is batting on 76.

Earlier, Sri Lanka bowled out for 291 in the first innings in reply to India’s 600. Upul Tharanga 64, Angelo Mathews 83 and Dilruwan Perera 92* were the top scorers. For India, Jadeja took three wickets, while Shami took two.

India did not enforce follow-on in order to give rest to its bowlers and put more pressure on the Sri Lankan batsmen in the fourth innings by setting a mammoth victory target.
