From knee injury at Rio Olympics to ‘GOLD MEDAL’ at Jakarta, Vinesh Phogat is a true ‘CHAMPION!’
Jakarta: From a knee injury at Rio Olympics to ‘GOLD MEDAL’ at Jakarta, Indian woman wrestler Vinesh Phogat is truly a ‘CHAMPION’. She not only won the gold medal today alone but went on to become the first Indian woman wrestler to win an Asian Games gold.
Phogat pocketed the yellow metal in the Asiad 2018 by defeating Japan’s Yuki Irie in the 50 kilogram women’s Freestyle final.
She completely dominated the contest, taking a 4-0 lead initially before stretching it further to 6-2 to bag the medal.

Earlier, Phogat had trounced Uzbekistan’s Daulatbike Yakshimuratova in mere 75 seconds by technical superiority (10-0) in the semi-final encounter.
The Haryana grappler was forced to concede her 48kg bout against China’s Yanan Sun 1-2 after a freak knee injury in the quarter-final bouts at Rio Olympics in 2016.
