Four from Odisha in Indian Women’s Rugby Team

Bhubaneswar: Four players from Odisha have been selected in the Indian Women’s Rugby Team to participate in the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy which is scheduled to be held at the GBK Sports Complex in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 10 and 11.
They are Sumitra Nayak, Hupi Majhi, Subhalaxmi Barik and Meerarani Hembram.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took Twitter route to congratulate the four girls for making it to the 12-member Indian women’s rugby squad.

 

Rugby India today announced the 12-member squads each for the Indian Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams for the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy.

The Indian Men’s team will be captained by Vikas Khatri while Vahbiz Barucha will lead the national Women’s team.  Both the teams along with their respective support staff will depart for the tournament on August 7.

Both the Indian Men’s & Women’s Rugby teams were part of a 15-day Indian National Training Camp which was held at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) here in Odisha.
