FIH Men’s Series Hockey Finals: India thrash Japan 7-2

Bhubaneswar: India defeated Japan  7-2 in a semifinal match FIH Men’s Series Hockey Finals at the Kalinga Stadium here in Odisha this evening.

Japan surprised India by scoring their first goal in the second minute of the game.  But just five minutes later, India successfully converted their first penalty corner, levelling 1-1 goal. Then, India didn’t look back and made a flurry of strikes throughout the game.

For India, Ramandeep Singh scored two goals, while Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Hardik Singh, Gursahbjit Singh and Vivek Prasad netted one goal each.

On the other hand, Kenji KitaZato and Kota Watanabe scored one goal each for the losing side.

India’s Ramandeep Singh was adjudged Player of the Match.

India will face South Africa in the summit clash tomorrow at 7.15 PM.  Earlier, South Africa beat USA 2-1 in another semifinal match here.
