Dutee Chand fails to qualify for Tokyo Olympics

Patiala: Odisha’s Sprinter Dutee Chand has yet again failed to qualify for Tokyo Olympics 2020 as she could not meet the Olympics qualification time of 11.15 seconds in the 100-metre.

Dutee who took part the 100-metre event at the 60th National Inter-State Athletics Championships in Patiala of Punjab today secured the fourth position with a timing of 11.62 seconds.

It is to be noted here that Chand set the national record in women’s 100 metre sprint event with 11.17 seconds at the Indian Grand Prix-IV on June 21, 2021. However, she failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The sprinter still has hope of making it to the Tokyo Olympics. “I will be qualified as per the ranking as athletes will be selected based on their rankings and timings,” she said in her reaction.
