Cricket World Cup: Bangladesh set victory target of 263 runs for Afghanistan

Southampton: Bangladesh set a 263-run victory target for Afghanistan in the 31st match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup the Rose Bowl here on Monday.

Put to bat first, Bangladesh posted 262 runs losing seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Mushfiqur Rahim top scored 83. Former skipper Shakib Al Hasan reclaimed top spot on the World Cup 2019 leading run-scorers list with a fine 51 runs. Mosaddek Hossain played a fine cameo, scoring a quick-fire 24-ball 35.

For Afghanistan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman took three wickets, while skipper Gulbadin Naib claimed two wickets. Dawlat Zadran and Mohammad Nabi got one wicket each.

While chasing the victory target, Afghanistan were 21 for no loss after five overs with both openers scoring Rahmat Shah (9*) and Gulbadin Naib (3*), when the last report came.

Earlier in the day, the toss was delayed by 10 minutes due to steady rainfall.
