Asian Games: Manjit gets gold in men’s 800m, Jinson settles for silver

Jakarta: India’s Manjit Singh and Jinson Johnson clinched gold and silver respectively in the Men’s 800meters race at the 18th Asian Games here today.

Manjit finished the race in 1:46:15 to win the gold while Jinson Johnson clocked it at 1:46:35 to win the silver.

This is India’s ninth gold medal at the Asian Games.

On the other hand, India’s Kurash contingent has beaten all odds to land two medals at the Asian Games through Pinky Balhara and Malaprabha Yallappa Jadhav.

Pinky Balhara won silver in women’s 52kg as Uzbekistan’s Gulnor Sulaymanova seals a 10-0 win in the final. Likewise, Malaprabha Jadhav got the bronze after she lost 0-10 in the event.

The India team comprising Hima Das, Md Anas, MR Poovamma and Rajiv Arokia also clinched the silver medal in Mixed 4X400m Relay Finals clocking 3:15.71.
