Asia Cup 2018: India-Afghanistan match ends in thrilling tie

Dubai: The Super-Four match between defending champions India and Afghanistan in the on-going Asia Cup ended in a thrilling here last night as Asghar Afghan led team bowled out men-in-blue off the penultimate ball of the game.

Opting to bat, Afghanistan had posted 252 for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs, riding on opener Mohammad Shahzad’s 124 and an end-of-innings cameo from Mohammad Nabi.

Chasing the victory target of 253, India were bundled out for 252 in 49.5 overs. Star Afghan spinner Rashid Khan successfully defended just seven runs in the final over. He also bagged 2 wickets.

For India, opener Lokesh Rahul top scored with 60, while Ambati Rayadu made 57.

Shahzad was adjudged Player of the Match.

Team India was led by MS Dhoni for the game after Rohit Sharma and some other key players were rested as the Men in Blue have already made it to the Final. It was Dhoni’s 200th ODI as Indian captain.
