The Agnipath Scheme introduced by the Central government is a step towards encouraging youngsters to join the defence forces.
Agnipath Scheme is a part of PM Modi’s major step towards reducing expenditure and the age of the entry level defence forces.
Youth interested in joining the defence forces through the Agnipath entry scheme would be called ‘Agniveers’ on joining.
It is noteworthy that as many as 1.25 lakh vacancies are currently available in the defence forces since the recruitment process was affected by the Covid pandemic for more than two years.
According to the plans of the Government, the ‘Agniveers’ will be trained with all the defence skills.
The best will be retained and the rest will be allowed to join civilian jobs. Tie-ups will be made with several corporate houses.
The ‘Agniveers’ will be initially recruited for a three year term. This will allow flexibility and push in new talent into the defence forces.
