Woman seeks groom with placard at Mumbai’s Taj hotel, video goes viral

Mumbai: In a city where arranged marriages dominate, this Mumbai woman is changing everything about it by being bold and hilarious with her approach to finding “the one.” The man is yet to be found.

Sayali Sawant, a 29-year-old woman, had gone viral for her audacious and amusing approach to finding a life partner. Recently, Sawant was seen carrying a placard with her personal profile in front of prominent Mumbai landmarks such as the Taj Hotel, Marine Drive, and the Gateway of India. The video shows Sawant confidently standing with her board stating her age, height preferences, and other important information.

People passing by were amused and curious, so many stopped to take the shot. In video footage, curious bystanders halted to chat with her. Some even wished her good luck. A number of young men also took the opportunity to have a laugh, jokingly declaring, “Mulga Ready Ahe Amcha” which translates to “our boy is ready” as they approached her.

Sayali, a resident of Nashik, who works in the government sector, isn’t the first one to try out innovative ways to engage people. Her latest stunt was a part of the content creation process to record reactions from people on a public marriage proposal. Sawant has gauged a mix of amusement, admiration, and curiosity among the public, with a vast majority praising the confidence and creativity she showed while proposing marriage in public.
